OK so I missed a day - life happens! I tried to set my timer and do this one in an hour like I have tried with the rest, but nothing doing....took me about 2 1/2. Yay weekend! Lots of painting ahead. I have to give credit to Carol Marine for this setup. The oranges are positioned almost exactly like a demo she did for our workshop last month. She is truly a genius! Mine did not turn out nearly as good as hers did, however. :) "Egg and Oranges" 8 x 10, oil on panel OK so I am already behind in this challenge, offered by Leslie Saeta at http://lesliesaeta.blogspot.com/#, but here is my first painting of some of my favorite things - can you guess? I will be posting another by tonight to catch up. This one is called "Guilty Pleasure" 6 x 6, oil on gessoboard. A couple of new pieces that will be available this weekend at the Walnut Creek Artists Market at Park Shadelands. Come on out! Friday 5-9 (live music and refreshments), Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 10-6. Hope to see you there! This challenge has been so much fun and I have learned a great deal about drawing faces. I don't even feel bad that I didn't paint any - it was fun to just draw for a change! Now, back to painting! I have applied to 2 juried shows, and should find out if I am accepted during the second week of March. Keep your fingers crossed!
I have discovered the joy of alcohol inks. The colors are so vibrant and it's so much fun to watch them react as they are applied. What do you think? I have been keeping up with the 29 faces challenge, though not posting them here every day. I will post all of the faces I have in another entry. There are so many talented artists who do faces straight from their mind instead of having to look at something. Giving that a try. It's harder than you would think! |
